Making the commitment to try therapy sessions can feel like a big step and I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation with you to explore what you are looking for and decide whether you would like to continue with psychotherapy sessions.

It might be helpful to know that there is a lot of evidence that engaging in psychotherapy sessions can lead to a reduction in many troubling symptoms & thoughts, can improve feelings of anxiety and low mood and can help with emotional regulation and enhance communication skills. Engaging in therapy can also lead to an increase in self awareness, improved confidence, better stress management & an overall increase in wellbeing!

I offer a free initial 15 minute conversation in which we can explore what support you are looking for & for me to answer any questions you may have. All content of the session is strictly confidential.

At the end of this conversation you can decide whether you would like to continue with psychotherapy sessions.

About me

Hello my name is Lucy Barnes and I have over 25 years’ clinical experience working therapeutically with a diverse range of individuals, couples and families.

I have worked as a therapist in many types of settings, including the NHS, social services, the charitable sector and in private practice.

I am fully qualified in Systemic Couple & Family Psychotherapy (MA), and Art Psychotherapy (MA). I am a qualified supervisor. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing EMDR.

I work in collaboration with you, supported by the latest evidence-based principles.

Sessions can integrate mind-body techniques, & use of images to support process & expression, especially when words can be hard to find.

I always work with client feedback and regularly review my practice. I receive regular supervision and up to date training.

I am registered with The Association of Family Therapy & Systemic Practice (AFT) and accredited by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) & Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
